We are always paying attention just to things that may not be helpful at that moment. We typically pay attention, in some cases, excessively ruminating about what just occurred or future challenges. So much so that we miss the critical information being shared with us, causing people to feel unheard and disrespected. Misunderstandings increase and employee engagement plummets. We don’t have to accept our fate. We can change. First, we need to understand what is happening in our brains. Second, we must increase our control over where you place your focused attention, exponentially increase your ability to lead, make effective decisions, and learn.

Course Overview

Course Outcomes

  • You will be able to notice when you are in focus and threat attention mode
  • Identify threats that decrease your attention using the SCARF model
  • Implement strategies to help you intentionally choose where to place your focused attention

Business Need

We lose 50% of our lives to inattention because humans are designed for inattention, and we have more distractions than ever competing for our attention in the attention economy. We often blame people for not paying attention or feel guilty ourselves for our lack of attention.
