In this one-day course, participants will apply techniques for purposeful, results-focused writing. Using techniques for clarity, conciseness, completeness, and correct writing for the target audience to understand in plain language a call to action or having the information to make informed decisions. They will learn techniques to connect with the reader and the results they want by applying the seven traits of writing during the writing process.

- Use plain language in accordance with the Plain Language Act of 2010

- To apply grammar and usage rules to ensure accuracy.
- To use the standards for writing specific documents such as reports, emails, proposals, letters, memorandums, meeting minutes, etc.
Business Need
In the words of Francis Bacon, “Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man.” Writing speaks volumes about a person. For many, it is not an innate or natural skill, but it can be cultivated and nurtured. Despite all the distractions of the electronic world, knowing how to write and write well is one of the highest priorities. It is critical to be able to write clearly, concisely, and correctly – and to transfer those skills to a variety of government-related documents.
